It's been a while since I published a new blog. Here's one for you! I often have ideas in my head but to make them happen, I need the right people, the right time, the right mood. So, one day you have someone with you who know wigs (more then I do), who can do the right makeup (I don't even try), and you have a talented model who's willing to wear that wig and that makeup just because you think it's a good idea. And THAT is when great things happen in my studio. All the photos has been taken in natural light, on a rainy day, coming from the studio's window. I'm thinking to print one of the photos, so please let me know in the comment your favorite shot. ;)
This was a session I did for my Christmas promotion. I know I should have share it with you before... but who said that Christmas Holidays are vacation for a mama?! Kids are back in school and daycare, the christmas tree out of the house... So, I'm back behind my computer and my camera. You know, when you photograph couples, your job is to capture what you see, what exist and what is real. I know these two had fun during their session.. but I don't think it's because of me or the camera or the props and my ideas. I think they have fun together all the time anyway. Enjoy the photos and see what I'm talking about.
Last Saturday August 29th, I had the chance to be a witness of Aleks and Kevin's wedding. What a beautiful day! A beautiful couple. Here's a few photos taken that day. Congratulation Mr. and Mrs Wilson!
Yesterday evening was very special. I gave you a online striptease on the Oh Sugar Photography Facebook page. Thousands of you came every half hour to watch it. It was awesome!! As you already know, I don't like to do things like everybody.. lol So, when I thought about doing a contest, I knew it will be something different from what we usually see. Mission accomplished!! I couldn't have done it without my model, Coel Peach, a local athlete who I worked with before. Always a pleasure to work with you Coel and it's just the begining of a long collaboration!! In what I'm doing, trust is an important thing... and for a second time, you trusted me with my crazy ideas. Thank you! I hope all of you enjoyed the excitement yesterday as much as I did. So, let me share with you again all the photos from yesterday's striptease with a few extras!! Have a good Oh Sugar Day everyone!!!
And few behind the scene shots for you... Tks Coel for the selfies!
This series reflect how I feel about living by the sea. Calm, graceful... this is how it feels to be part of the nature around you. Making one with the ocean. One foot in the water, one foot on the shore. We left my studio that day with a dress, a bed sheet ... and not much more. haha Thanks to Kandee who clearly caught my ideas and did an amazing job with hair and make up. So, Meg and I just jumped in the water. The water was warm, the sun was high, the sand under my feet felt perfect! What a great adventure and so much fun. Hope you enjoy the result, because these photos are a little warm up to my heart.
Usually when I do a creative photoshoot, I have an idea, a style and then I look for a location and accessories. Even if most of the time, creative shoot are mostly Let's go with the flow. But this time, I had the opportunity to share with other photographers this awesome location. So I didn't think about it until the night before when Sarah asked me how I wanted her hair and make up done. I have this picture of Lagertha from Vikings on my desktop for months waiting for an opportunity to get inspired.. I sent it to Sarah and said.. Something like this! And that was it! And it is exactly why I like working with her. In few words we got on the same page.. She knew exactly what I was talking about. Showing up the next morning gorgeous as usual, with a bag of stuff that she thought will go well with the idea. Rain.. the Bridgewater Tim Hortons.. a few cigarettes.. and then we parked at the Zwicker Building in Lunenburg. Not really knowing what we would find. No flash, no equipment, only my camera using natural light..
I'm doing some experiments lately. I'm exploring. I wish I had the talent of an artist painter or a sculpter... but today I sculpted. Inspired by famous sculptures, I made these photos. The human body is an infinity of possibilities. You don't need accessories, costumes or make up to tell a story. This is humanity at its most vulnerable. Lights, shadows, muscles, bones, curves, skin.. were my clay. I feel. I share. I trust. And thank you to my amazing model who trusted me. Who always beleives in me and in my craziest ideas. You are beautiful.
I didn't know what to expect today. I asked Coel few weeks ago if he could help me. I needed a model to practice and see how I was doing with a male model. It's been a while I didn't have the chance to have a guy in my studio. First it was to gain some confidence behind my camera, and second to have some great shots to show you. I think we all did great today, the photographer and the models. Hope you're going to like it. I have my favorites... Which one is yours?
Now for some Boudoir photography. Here are some of the photos I took with Katie at the Mariner King Inn in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. I just love this place for Boudoir. The ambiance is warm and the light just perfect. Katie is young, pretty and has those magical eyes. We had fun and she has this communicative laugh.. These are the things I really wanted to capture with my camera.
This was a nice day! We started with a kind of Frozen idea... of course, I kind of addapted it to me.. then Amanda came and did her magic with the make up. Got the chance to work with one of my favorite model and person, Taylor. When you slide on a rock to finish knees in seeweeds and mud that smell like shit.. and you keep laughing,.. that's what I call a good day!! Always ready for a little adventure!!
Here's where you can read about my latest adventures, see photos from recent shoots, and have a peek into a day in the life of a photographer!
